What moves the price on this route

Volume (cubic feet)

The biggest factor. Every piece you sell or donate before leaving Las Vegas lowers the price.

Access at both homes

Stairs, elevators, long walks to the truck and gated entries add time. We note them at the survey so the quote is accurate.

Packing

Full or partial packing, dish packs, wardrobe boxes and boxed TVs and mirrors are priced separately and listed on your quote.

Season

Late spring and summer are the busiest months. Booking early gives you more date choices.

Storage

If your new home isn't ready, storage can be added. The first month is free.

FAQ

Las Vegas to California Moving FAQ

How much does it cost to move from Las Vegas to California?

Estimated costs for a Las Vegas to California move run about $1,500–$3,000 for a studio or 1-bedroom, $2,900–$4,500 for a 2-bedroom, $4,300–$6,600 for a 3-bedroom and $6,000–$9,000+ for a 4-bedroom home. Your binding quote is based on your inventory list.

How long does a move from Las Vegas to California take?

It is about 270 miles to Los Angeles and 570 miles to San Francisco or Sacramento. Estimated delivery is 2–5 business days after pickup. All times are estimates, not guaranteed dates, because weather, road conditions and DOT rules can affect the trip.

Do you also move from Las Vegas to Northern California?

Yes. We deliver to the Bay Area and Sacramento as well as Southern California. Sacramento and San Francisco are about 570 miles from Las Vegas, with an estimated 2–5 business days for delivery.

Why can the final price be different from my estimate?

Your quote is a binding quote based on your inventory list. Long distance moves are priced by volume in cubic feet, so the price holds as long as what we move on moving day matches the list you gave us. If items are added or removed, or access at either home is different from what was described (stairs, elevator, long walk to the truck), the price is updated in writing before loading.

How much is the deposit, and what happens if I cancel?

A deposit reserves your moving date. For most moves it is about 10% of the quoted price. For last-minute bookings it can be up to 30%. You can cancel within 3 days of booking and get your full deposit back. After that the deposit is non-refundable, and moves booked the day before the moving date have no refund period. The deposit amount and cancellation terms are written in your agreement before you pay anything.

How will I know when my things will arrive?

We confirm your moving day 24 to 48 hours in advance. When your shipment is loaded for delivery, we update you by email or phone. The day before delivery, your driver calls you to schedule the arrival time. All delivery times are estimates, not guaranteed dates, because weather, road conditions and DOT rules can affect the trip.

What happens if something is damaged?

Every move includes basic liability coverage at $0.60 per pound per item, as required by federal rules. For more protection, you can buy optional full value coverage through Lakeland, a third-party insurance company. One crew member is dedicated to inventory and logs every item before it goes on the truck. If something arrives damaged, you receive a claim form with the contact details of the third-party company that handles claims.

Are you a broker? Will another company handle my move?

Carrier, not a broker. We own our trucks and trailers, and we are licensed under USDOT #2022745 and MC #711417. In busy seasons we may add extra capacity to keep delivery on schedule, the same way UPS and FedEx add rented trucks and outside carriers during the holidays so packages arrive on time. Either way, you deal only with Cross Country Moving from your first call to final delivery.

How can I confirm I'm talking to the real Cross Country Moving LLC?

Several companies use similar names. Ours is Cross Country Moving LLC, USDOT #2022745, MC #711417, phone (844) 646-0016, website crosscountrymovingusa.com. If the paperwork, phone number or website you were given doesn't match these, you are not dealing with us. You can also look up our USDOT number on the FMCSA SAFER website.

What if my new home isn't ready when my things arrive?

We can hold your belongings in storage, and the first month is free. If you need climate-controlled storage, we can arrange it for an additional cost. Storage terms are written in your agreement in advance.

Can you move my car too?

No. We don't ship vehicles. If you need your car moved, ask your moving consultant and we can refer you to a vehicle transport company.
